Why Should You Visit Beale Street ?(Memphis, TN)
If you are looking for some great food and LIVE entertainment; Beale Street is the place to visit. I am talking about the BEST live music and the best food selections. Lets don’t forget the drink specials; so if you are a lover of all kind of spirits head on down to Beale Street; right in the heart of Memphis (Downtown)
Entertainment
Lets start at the front of Beale Street where you will see the great B B King Restaurant. What I love about this restaurant is the entertainment. The Blues is alright when you are listening to it LIVE and in full effect. The dance floor is very small , but you will see a lot of hand clapping and feet stomping.
There is a cover charge, but you will get your money worth just by listening to the great Blues music of Beale street. I have never seen B B King live at the restaurant, but his music is alive and playing. There is also a little gift shop if you are interested in purchasing gifts that can keep your memories alive.
Right on the Corner of Beale where you can see the FedEx Forum is The Rum Boogie Café. The band(s) there is on FIRE. You cant stay in your seat when this band is playing. When the band is giving you moves who thinks about food. I know I don’t; I think about moving to the grooves of the music. So if you are looking for a place where you can dance and sing all night; you need to come to the Café.
Not only is the band on FIRE, but the customer service is a 5 Star. When you visit; ask for Calvin; he will make sure you are taken care of. After 5pm; there is a cover charge of 5.00, but when you are listening to a band that is giving you a full concert; paying the charge is nothing. Take it from me; the band is off the chain.
If you take a few steps from B B King you will walk right in front of The Kings Ramson. There is a band on the outside and on the inside. If you want to dance come outside to the Ramson. There are benches for you to seat and there is a stage up front; so to get a good seat you must get there early. If you just want to seat and listen to good music come inside to the Ramson. Either way; the music on both sides are good to the ears.
Food
My favorite food spot is Miss Polly’s. If you love Chicken and Waffles you need to come to the Polly’s. It is a shot gun building, but the food is Bam Bam Good. The chicken is fried to perfection and the waffles are fluffy and oh so good.
If you love Fried Pies; you better get a piece of Miss Polly’s Pie. They never have them because they are so poplar. I am not a lover of sweets, but this one right here is on point. Its so good you will want to slap your ? Now it can get hot in there because the kitchen is right in the middle for you to see; like Nelly said: “Its HOT in here.”
Drinks
The famous Wet Willie’s. The drinks are frozen and they have them ready for you. From Call a Cab to Shock Treatment. They have over 15 options for you to choose from and they also have Sugar Free . You have the option to choose a small or a large. Either way; you will get your drink on.
There are other locations on Beale street that sell liquor, you will see a spot right in front of any restaurant. You will see tall glasses and guitar glasses with all kinds of drinks. When you come take your time, because you want to make sure you sample as many as you can.
