3 Important Facts Before you go Thrifting…….

Thrifting is not a bad thing nor is it something you should be ashamed of. Thrifting has been around for a long time. When I was growing up; I thought that thrifting was for those that could not afford to by new clothes and I was one of them. When I was in college; my store was not Goldsmiths; the New Macy’s; it was Goodwill. If you attended College and your funds was low you know exactly what I am talking about. Lets don’t get it twisted; my parents gave me everything I needed and wanted, but I wanted to prove to them that I could do it by myself.

Today; thrifting has become the new Norm; thrifting has become the new trend for 2021. If you don’t believe me check out the new online Thrift store call ThredUP. ThredUp has a lot of selections for you to choose from and from great designers such as Michael Kors, Coach, Jimmy Choo, etc. So lets don’t think Thrifting is bad; Honestly; it is the best way to go.

There is another word for Thrifting which is the bougie name; Consignment. Think about it; the only difference is that you are getting a percentage of what you dropped off. Again, don’t think that thrifting is bad; it is just a different form of Shopping. I love thrifting because I get excite to see what great find I can discover.

I want to give you Three (3) important facts before you go thrifting:

  1. Know what you are looking for

The thrift store is not like going to Macy’s or Saks Fifth Avenue; clothes are everywhere. It is important that you know what you are looking for before you get to the store. If not; you will find yourself lost and coming out with either too much stuff or not what you need. Most stores are not sized they are just in sections leaving you searching for what you are looking for. Sometimes if the store is huge you can find yourself in there for hours.

  2. Know your Style

It is important to know what style works for you. Remember the 1st fact; you must know what you are looking for before you start thrifting. If you don’t know your style you can find yourself picking items you don’t need. For Example; if you are a curvy girl and you know that shinny jeans are not your cup of tea; don’t search for them; stay in your own lane.

  3. Location
It is good to shop at locations in good neighbors. I have learned by experience that you will find the best deals in the nicer neighborhoods. The reason why we thrift is to save money and most of all find the BEST deals. Who wants to spread time searching for something and you can never find it.

Understand that thrifting is not bad at all; it is a good thing and you can come out with a lot. Remember these key facts before you start. Make sure you do your homework. Thrifting is like a treasury hunt; if you keep looking you will find a jewel. Good Luck!
