Transition your closet from Winter to Spring

It’s that time of the year when we have to change out your clothes and that can be a tough task to complete, especially if you are not prepare for the task. I have piled up so many clothes that changing out my closet can last for days. If you live in the south like me; the weather can be a little off and removing everything all at once can be a major mistake. Throughout the seasons I have established a process that has helped me become smarter when transitioning my wardrobe.

1# Seasonal Colors

It is important that you remove all the colors that does not relate to that season. For Spring we know that dark Browns, Blues, Grays, etc are no longer a color to wear. This would be the first task I do when removing clothes that I know I will not wear that season.

If you are not sure about what is actually a spring color; that is ok; just look at this chart and it will help you with making the right decision.

2# Textures

The second task I look at is the texture of my clothes. We already know that furs, leather and suede should be removed from your closet after winter. That is a major NO NO if you are not leaving in the states where winter ends in the mid May. So put those away and focus on the textures that can keep you cool and comfortable for the warm season.

3# Create piles (the Three W’s) You don’t want to keep holding onto things that you know you will not wear anymore.

Will I wear them the Next/Current season?

There is one question you can ask yourself; Will I wear this next season? If you have to think about it; there is a 50% chance that you will not wear it. there are so many factors to this question, but you have to be honest with yourself.

What can I sell?

There are so many websites that can assist you with selling your best piece of clothes. If you know that you can make money selling them; GO FOR IT. Here are my favorites sites that can help you with this decision.

  1. postmark: https://poshmark.com

  2. Thred Up: https://www.thredup.com

What Do I want to Donate?

There are some clothes that you cant sell, but you can donate. There are so many organizations that are taking clothes that you no longer want, but make sure they are clothes that you would want to purchase again. (Never gave someone something you will never want again)

  1. Salvation Army

  2. Good Will
